Jim Watt had a fairytale boxing career, winning the world lightweight title at the age of thirty-one – two years after considering retirement to concentrate on his secondhand car sales business. His life changed when he moved to London to join the Terry Lawless stable, and within two years he snatched the world title from Colombian Alfredo Pituala.
He beat allcomers for two years before finally losing his championship to the magnificent Alexis Arguello. Glasgow-born Jim, a winner of thirty-eight of his forty-six fights, turned his attention to the world of television and became the No 1 ringside summariser, first alongside Reg Gutteridge on ITV and then switching to Sky.
He talks eloquently about the worlds of boxing and television, and always leaves his audience laughing.
